UI Engineer
ClickSenior Front End Engineer/Product UI Engineer - ColdFusion/CFML (Contract)
Remote UK | 3-4 Days Per Week | Initial 3 months (Potential Extension)
I'm working with an established organisation looking for a Senior Front End Engineer contractor to help modernise an enterprise SaaS application.
You must have strong commercial experience with ColdFusion/CFML, alongside solid Front End development skills across JavaScript, jQuery, HTML and CSS/SCSS. You'll also have hands-on commercial experience using OpenAI Codex or similar AI coding agents within a development environment.
This role goes beyond Front End engineering. We're looking for someone who combines strong development skills with genuine product UX/UI design experience. You should have experience designing user journeys, interaction patterns and scalable design systems, with a focus on creating intuitive user experiences as well as building them.
The role will focus on improving an existing platform, building reusable components, evolving the design system, improving accessibility and helping modernise the application incrementally.
Key experience:
- Commercial ColdFusion/CFML development
- OpenAI Codex or similar AI coding agents
- JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS/SCSS
- Product UX/UI design experience
- User journeys, interaction patterns and design systems
- Storybook or similar component libraries
- Accessibility and automated testing
- Experience working with established/Legacy applications

This is a pragmatic modernisation role, not a full rewrite. We're looking for someone who can work effectively with an existing codebase while bringing strong product thinking and user-focused design to the platform.
