UNIX Engineer - Contract (Hybrid, UK)
£535/day (Inside IR35)

Hybrid working (2-3 days onsite per week)
We are seeking an experienced UNIX Engineer to support and enhance enterprise-scale infrastructure, with a strong focus on Oracle Solaris and virtualisation technologies.
Role Overview
This role involves managing complex UNIX environments, ensuring high availability, resilience, and secure system operations across large enterprise platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support Oracle Solaris systems
- Manage LDOMs (Logical Domains) for virtualisation
- Deliver system migrations and upgrades across UNIX environments
- Design and support high-availability clustering solutions
- Monitor system performance and resolve complex technical issues
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams
- Maintain compliance with security and operational standards
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Solaris
- LDOM configuration and management expertise
- Experience with Oracle T-series hardware (T5, T7, T8)
- Proven background in UNIX migrations and upgrades
- Knowledge of clustering, failover, and resilience design
- Strong understanding of UNIX networking, storage, and security principles
Security & Eligibility Requirements
- Active SC clearance required
- Must be a sole UK national
- Must not have spent more than 28 days outside the UK
- Must be eligible to work with sensitive and classified information
- Additional vetting required, which may extend onboarding timelines
Desirable Experience
- Oracle Solaris certifications
- Experience in large-scale enterprise environments
- Scripting and automation skills (Shell, Python)
