VDI Infrastructure Engineer

Job title: VDI Infrastructure Engineer - Active SC clearance
Start date: Beginning of July
Duration: 6 months initially
Location: Hybrid - Central London (50/50 split)
Salary: £380 per day (Inside IR35)
Standard hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm

Overview: We are seeking an SC cleared VDI Infrastructure Engineer with VMware/Omnissa Horizon experience.

As VDI Infrastructure Engineer, you will be focused on maintaining the Omnissa Horizon platforms stability, availability, performance and security within a highly secure environment. You will provide 3rd line support, investigating and resolving complex technical issues, performing platform upgrades and patching activities, and supporting the ongoing life cycle management of the Omnissa Horizon estate. 

Key Responsibilities

• Administration and support of the VMware/Omnissa Horizon VDI platform
• Performing system maintenance, patching, upgrades, and configuration changes
• Monitoring platform health and investigating issues
• Incident resolution and root cause analysis
• Supporting the ongoing availability and performance of the Horizon VDI environment
• Working closely with infrastructure and support teams to maintain service levels
• Producing and maintaining technical documentation where required

• Active SC Clearance is essential
• Proven experience administering and supporting VMware/Omnissa Horizon VDI environments
• Experience of providing 3rd line infrastructure support within enterprise environments
• Hands-on experience performing Horizon platform maintenance, patching and upgrades
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with experience conducting root cause analysis and resolving complex technical issues
• Experience monitoring platform health, performance and capacity utilisation

• VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter administration
• Windows Server and Active Directory
• Profile management and end-user computing technologies
• Experience supporting large virtual desktop estates.
