Senior Release Engineer – Remote (U.S. Based)

Contract role: annualized compensation $130k-$150k

A leading technology-driven organization is seeking a Senior Release Engineer to join a cross-functional team responsible for delivering highly visible, customer-facing applications. In this hands-on role, you will manage and coordinate software releases, contributing to continuous integration and delivery pipelines while driving improvements in release strategy and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and manage release processes across multiple applications and development teams
Implement and maintain Git branching and merge strategies to support Agile workflows
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and scripting (Python, Bash)
Write and maintain runbooks and release notes
Support quality assurance and user acceptance testing workflows
Identify and mitigate release risks proactively
Collaborate with engineering leads and product teams to ensure smooth deployments
Improve release tooling, automation, and documentation

Required Skills:

Strong understanding of Git and CI/CD practices
Experience with Jenkins and scripting in Python, Bash, or similar
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS (e.g., ECS, Lambda, S3)
Ability to read and understand application code (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL)
Experience working in Agile environments across multiple teams and projects
Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred:

Experience supporting releases for distributed applications or microservices
Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools

This is a remote position (U.S. based) with a preference for candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone. Interviews begin immediately.
