Terminology Manager (Localization)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, TX (onsite Tues - Thurs)
Duration: 12 months
Pay: up to $55.95/hour, DOE

The Planet Group is looking for a Terminology Manager to join our well-known Fortune 500 client on a 12-month contract. This role will work 40 hours per week and will be hybrid in Austin, TX.

Terminology Manager Responsibilities:

Create, manage and maintain glossaries, style guides, and other linguistic and cultural assets in up to 40 locales, using in-house tools.
On a daily basis help update outdated terms as needed and lead the implementation with the support of on-site vendors, and DRIs who are native-level speakers.
Create/Maintain/Update related documentation for workflows.
Collaborate closely with vendors, localization project managers, lab operations staff, and language leads across the organization to ensure that terminology is kept consistent for all lines of business.
Provide outstanding attention to detail and technical skills to ensure that linguistic assets are kept in sync and abreast of the times.
Work autonomously while handling aggressive delivery schedules, as well as strong collaboration skills to find the needed answers as it pertains to assigned projects.
Collect feedback from various stakeholders to establish quality requirements and connect with the Localization QA team when those requirements are not met.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
Beyond reporting on issues found, provide pertinent information and follow solutions to their conclusion.
Gather feedback and recommendations from various stakeholders and flag potential language and cultural sensitivity issues.
Look for opportunities to optimize workflows, tools, and processes to help the team scale.
Implement and foster globalization/internationalization/localization best practices.
Check reference documentation and support validation as needed.
Check and maintain accuracy of records.
Assist in the assessment/communication of language needs for the UI Localization labs.
Manage daily and long term coverage and look for solutions as needed.
Create/manage tasks in an agile project management tool.
Co-host/Participate in internal team meetings.
Oversee review process and help treat data.
Anticipate tool training needs and create new tasks for vendors to take on.
Reply/manage/resolve/distribute bugs.

Terminology Manager Qualifications:

Native-level fluency in a language other than English a plus.
Background working within the localization space.
High attention to detail with an ability to see the big picture and to handle some ambiguity.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong familiarity with the client's ecosystem (hardware, software, and services).
Sufficient understanding of software development lifecycle.
