The team is dedicated to ensuring seamless coordination between physicians, staff, and patients for optimal surgical scheduling and patient flow.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduler with strong EPIC knowledge and excellent communication skills. This role is responsible for coordinating surgical cases with physicians, medical assistants, clinical staff, and surgery center representatives. Unlike a typical appointment scheduler, this position focuses on managing complex surgical schedules and ensuring all cases are properly booked and coordinated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, and independent offices to schedule surgeries
- Handle case booking for multiple specialties including ENT, Ortho, GYN, Pain, GI, Dental, Plastic, Urology, Vascular, and Ophthalmology
- Utilize EPIC and Outlook to manage case scheduling and documentation
- Assist with patient check-in between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM before returning to scheduling duties
- Maintain strong organizational skills to manage high volumes of cases and physician requests
- Build and maintain professional relationships with providers and surgery center staff
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2+ years of surgery scheduling experience
- 2+ years of EPIC experience (must have hands-on workflow experience beyond messaging)
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and multi-tasking skills
- Experience working with multiple specialties or high provider volumes
- Reliable transportation and ability to work on-site in Tinley Park
- Presentable, professional demeanor with a proven track record of reliability
Additional Details:
- Type of Assignment: Contract (6 weeks minimum, potential extension)
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
- Dress Code: Business casual (no jeans, no sandals)
- Background: Occupational medical testing required
- Transportation: Must have reliable vehicle
