Senior Network & Cyber Security Engineer - 12 Months Contract
Hybrid: 2 days in the office (Tuesday & Wednesday), other 3 days remote
Outside IR35
Preferred locations: Aberdeen, Staines, Glasgow, or Reading

The Senior Network & Cyber Security Engineer will support project implementation aligned with company objectives, focusing on improving margins, customer satisfaction, schedules, working capital, and safety performance.
Responsibilities include providing cybersecurity, networking, secure architectures, vulnerability and risk assessments, and supporting project teams and clients with technical solutions.

We design digital ecosystems that are inherently secure, integrating IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems to support business and operational goals.
Key Objectives:
- Assess cybersecurity architecture robustness within customer facilities.
- Design and implement solutions to mitigate security risks, including antivirus, patch management, insider threat protection, incident response, and compliance.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and audits on client systems and network devices, considering OT sensitivities.
- Provide expertise in network design, implementation, and testing for automation and control systems.
- Define network requirements supporting automation and control solutions.
- Apply integration concepts across various systems and vendor platforms.
- Engineer network aspects of automation projects, including design and implementation.
- Prepare engineering studies and design documentation.
- Resolve engineering issues by applying standards and principles.
- Develop detailed network architecture and data flow diagrams.
- Create network schedules, testing procedures, and material requisitions.
- Review vendor drawings and consolidate feedback.
- Conduct Cyber Security Risk Assessments and advise on mitigation actions.
- Evaluate client security posture, identify vulnerabilities, and suggest improvements.
- Stay updated on security trends, threats, and best practices.
Skills & Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- BSc Degree or equivalent experience
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CWNP, ISA/IEC 62443, GICSP (highly desirable)
- Experience in Control System Network Design Engineering
- Understanding of IEC62443 and IEC27001/2 standards
- Knowledge of automation and control engineering disciplines
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC) and security implications
- Experience in writing network specifications
- Experience with multiple system implementation projects and control platforms
- Experience in upgrades/replacements in automation/control projects
- Strong knowledge of engineering practices, standards, and procedures
- Knowledge of modern automation tools, methodologies, and security considerations in OT environments
- Organized, detail-oriented, inquisitive
Desirable:
- Experience with Rockwell, Honeywell, Schneider PLC/SCADA systems
- Familiarity with telecom protocols, satellite communications, radio-link tech
- Experience with OT Intrusion Detection Systems
