Post-Production Audio Mixer

Location: Onsite in Irvine, CA
Duration: 12 months
Pay: $113.40/hour, DOE

The Planet Group is looking for aPost-Production Audio Mixer to join our well-known Fortune 500 client on a 12-month contract. This role will be 40 hours a week and is fully onsite in Irvine, CA.

Post-Production Audio Mixer Key qualifications

7+ years experience in post-production sound with a strong focus on surround and immersive sound mixing, particularly in Ambisonic and objectbased audio formats such as Dolby Atmos
Passion for telling stories and creating environments with sound
Proficiency with Pro Tools, S6 or similar control surfaces, and immersive mixing workflows and tools
Deep knowledge of broadcast and streaming specs and standards
Technical proficiency with ability to adapt quickly to new tools and workflows still in active development
Open-minded approach to exploring new techniques and methodologies
Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients, partners, and leads
Hands-on sound editing experience

Post-Production Audio Mixer Additional Qualifications

Experience with non-traditional media formats (VR, interactive, or gaming) strongly preferred
Understanding of acoustics, psychoacoustics and spatial audio principles
Experience in scripting to automate workflows using python or similar scripting languages preferred but not required.
Basic experience in using the command line to invoke apps and scripts

Post-Production Audio Mixer Job description

The Re-recording Mixer will join an in-house sound team and will work closely with our Audio Lead. You will collaborate with clients, internal and external partners and the sound team to craft compelling immersive soundscapes. Initially, you will focus on creating detailed predubs, while gradually taking on final mixes as you become more familiar with our workflows and tools. In your role, you will use your traditional mixing expertise as a foundation for developing new approaches in immersive content. You will also contribute to sound editorial tasks and help develop new workflows for immersive content creation.

Education

BA/BS or equivalent experience
