On behalf of HM Land Registry, we are looking for an Automation Test Engineer (Inside IR35) for an 11 month hybrid contract based 3 days per week in Croydon or Plymouth.
You will be accountable for providing practical testing expertise, particularly in test automation, within the team. They will be accountable for producing and maintaining robust and efficient automated test packs. You responsible for the creation on the projects Quality Strategy and will work with the team to ensure that quality is built into every part of the product.
You have a key role in assuring the quality of the product being delivered and escalating significant concerns, issues or risks in a timely manner. The Test Engineer leads on test activities within the team, working collaboratively with developers to support a continuous deployment environment.
Responsibilities
. Accountable for the provision of practical advice and guidance to team members on quality assurance and life cycle testing.
. Accountable for translating functional and non-functional requirements or user stories into documented and approved test plans and test cases
. Accountable for the design, creation and management of automated testing suites to support a continuous deployment environment.
. Accountable for the creation and running of any manual tests.
. Accountable for the creation and running the automated test scripts to support a continuous deployment environment and the continuous improvement of the automated test suites by reviewing and refactoring.
. Accountable for the development and maintenance of the test automation framework
. Responsible for understanding the technical implementation of the applications under test
. Responsible for using appropriate technical solutions for testing
. Responsible for the creation of the project Quality Strategy, making decisions about the relevant types & levels of testing and test tools required ensuring whole team contribution and adoption
. Responsible for the analysis of risks to quality and ensuring the mitigations are reflected in the analysis and test packs.
. Responsible for reviewing (including unit test coverage) and sign off all tests to ensure they will provide appropriate coverage and quality assurance.
. Responsible for managing and providing ongoing feedback on defects, working collaboratively with developers to learn from defects in future iterations.
. Contributes to the analysis of requirements and user stories and definition of clear acceptance criteria.
. Accountable for ensuring maintainability and reusability of test artefacts and scripts across teams
Essential Skills
. Experience in analysing systems and documentation to create test cases
. Experience in testing multiple phases of the software development life cycle
. Coding experience, Python and/or Ruby would be preferable
. Proficient in using automated testing tools eg cucumber and selenium
. Experience in leading test activities within a team
. The ability to engage, influence and persuade others.
. Experience in assessing the risk to quality.
. Proficient in coding automated tests.
. Ability to problem solve system errors and collaborate to get resolutions.
. Experience working with terminal commands
. Experience using code repositories and source control (eg github)
. Experience working with SQL and testing databases
. Experience working with API testing and tools (eg Postman)
. Experience working with CI/CD pipeline and tools (eg Jenkins)
