Hays are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager to join a well-established organisation based in the Teesside area on a temporary basis to provide cover during a period of sickness. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive finance professional to step into a key leadership role and make an immediate impact.
The RoleReporting directly to the Financial Director, you will take responsibility for overseeing day-to-day finance operations while ensuring robust financial control and reporting. You will also play a key role in supporting ongoing finance projects and driving improvements within the function.The assignment is expected to last 3-6 months, with the potential for extension depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 4 finance staff, providing guidance, support, and performance oversight
- Take ownership of the monthly management accounts process, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Oversee budgetary control, monitoring performance against budgets and providing insightful variance analysis
- Prepare and maintain cashflow forecasts, ensuring the business maintains a strong liquidity position
- Conduct detailed payment and expenditure analysis, identifying trends and opportunities for cost control
- Work closely with the Financial Director to support strategic decision-making
- Assist with ongoing finance projects, including process improvements and system enhancements
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and relevant financial regulations
Candidate Profile
Hays are looking for a confident and capable finance professional who can quickly integrate into the business and provide strong leadership.Essential:
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager or similar role
- Strong background in management accounting and financial reporting
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
- Demonstrable experience managing or supervising a team
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders
Preferred:
- Professional finance qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced or changing environment
