Middleware Migration Engineer - IBM WAS to Linux - Contract - Outside IR35 - 6 months - Hybrid - Berkshire 2 days a week

TrinIT Talent are looking for a Middleware Migration Specialist to come on board for a 6 month initial contract based in Berkshire 2 days a week and 3 days remote. This role falls Out of Scope of IR35 and is paying £ per day.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute migration strategy from IBM WebSphere Application Server to Red Hat
• Build automation to migrate applications, configurations, and dependencies
• Develop reusable tooling and scripts to enable repeatable migration patterns
• Work with messaging integrations including IBM MQ
• Automate build, deployment, and configuration processes
• Analyse existing WAS environments and map to Red Hat equivalents
• Identify migration risks, compatibility issues, and remediation approaches
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and DevOps teams

Key Skills

• Strong experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
• Experience migrating to Red Hat Middleware (JBoss EAP, OpenShift, or similar)
• IBM MQ configuration and migration experience
• Strong automation and Scripting skills:
  • Python/Bash/Shell Scripting
  • Perl (desirable but useful for Legacy tooling)
• Configuration management/automation tools:
  • Ansible
• Experience building migration tooling and automation frameworks
• Linux administration
