Postgre Developer (ETL) - Contract - London (Hybrid) - 6 months

Our client is seeking a PostgreSQL Developer with strong ETL expertise to support DB2-to-PostgreSQL migration and AWS-based data modernisation, transforming Legacy DB2 databases into optimised PostgreSQL solutions on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end DB2 to PostgreSQL migration - assessment, schema conversion, data migration, validation, cutover planning
• Design, develop, and support PostgreSQL databases - tables, views, indexes, functions, triggers, stored procedures
• Perform table rationalisation, normalisation, and schema optimisation for data quality and performance
• Support conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling alongside architects and business stakeholders
• Develop and maintain ETL pipelines using AWS Glue; implement CDC solutions using AWS DMS
• Convert DB2 Stored Procedures, SQL PL scripts, triggers, and batch logic into PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL
• Conduct data mapping, reconciliation, and validation to ensure migration completeness and integrity
• Perform query tuning, performance optimisation, indexing, and capacity planning for PostgreSQL
• Support SIT, UAT, and Production deployment, including defect resolution and post-migration stabilisation
• Produce technical documentation, migration runbooks, and design specifications
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior developers throughout the migration

What You Will Ideally Bring

• Strong PostgreSQL development (PL/pgSQL, views, functions, triggers, stored procedures)
• Database performance tuning and query optimisation on PostgreSQL RDS/Aurora
• DB2 to PostgreSQL migration experience (preferred), schema assessment/conversion, and Legacy modernisation
• AWS data engineering skills: AWS DMS, AWS Glue ETL, AWS Schema Conversion Tool, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch
• Data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical), table rationalisation and normalisation (3NF/BCNF)

Contract Details:

• Duration: 6 months
• Rate: £550-600day (Inside IR35)
• Location: London(Hybrid)
