Linux/Unix Engineer
Location: Manchester/Barrow - Hybrid 80% office & 20% remote
Duration: 3 months contract (+ possible extension)

Role Description:
Core Technical Requirement
Strong hands-on engineers with deep Linux and Solaris administration capability, required to support a security-critical production estate including Legacy Solaris platforms.
Key Technical Skills:
Linux Administration
RHEL/CentOS (or equivalent)
Performance troubleshooting, patching, system management
Solaris
Strong experience administering Legacy Solaris systems
ZFS, system stability, and production support
Core Unix Engineering
OS-level troubleshooting (CPU, memory, disk, services)
System patching, upgrades, and life cycle management
Scripting/automation (Shell, basic tooling)
Production Support
Experience in live enterprise environments
Incident, problem, and change execution
Environment
Secure, audited, highly regulated infrastructure
Mixed Linux and Legacy Unix estate requiring specialist support capability [Dragonfly_ er_Jobspot | Word]
Summary
Short-term requirement for technically strong Unix engineers with Solaris expertise, capable of operating independently in a controlled, production environment to support exit delivery.
ONTRACTOR MUST BE SC CLEARED (active) AND BE A SOLE UK NATIONAL - (MOD CLEARANCE PREFERABLE)
No more than 28 days outside the UK during the last 5 years.
