On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Tooling Developer (Inside/Outside IR35/PAYE) for an 8 month hybrid contract based 1 day per week in London.
An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)
Role Purpose:
Ideally with a background as a Power Platform Developer or SharePoint Developer or Data Analyst/BI Developer or Management Information Developer, the Defence Artificial Intelligence Centre, (DAIC), Tooling Developer is responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of DAIC tooling that supports AI insight, coherence reporting, demand management, and discovery activity across Defence. The role ensures tools are reliable, performant, user-centred, and aligned to DAIC Insights & Coherence needs, enabling transparent tracking of demand and effective decision-making.
Key Objectives:
. Maintain and enhance DAIC tooling to ensure availability, performance, and data integrity.
. Improve user experience, usability, and accessibility of DAIC tools, including the DAIC Front Door.
. Enable effective insight, coherence analysis, and demand tracking through robust dashboards and visualisations.
. Develop and maintain a 12-month tooling enhancement roadmap aligned to DAIC priorities.
. Introduce automation to streamline user journeys and internal processes.
Core Responsibilities:
. Deliver monthly tool maintenance, including data refresh, bug fixes, and user access management.
. Establish and monitor baseline performance metrics such as load time, data freshness, and error rates.
. Log, triage, and resolve defects reported by users, ensuring timely resolution and feedback.
. Develop and prioritise a feature backlog based on feedback from the user community and DAIC priorities.
. Design and maintain dashboards and visualisations to support insight generation and interpretation.
. Create and maintain a 12-month tooling roadmap aligned to DAIC Insights & Coherence requirements.
. Identify and develop automation opportunities to improve efficiency and user experience.
. Review DAIC Front Door usability and design improved features.
. Run a discovery phase to surface existing frameworks, tools, assessments, processes, and FLC discovery approaches.
. Design and implement the Discovery Pathway process.
. Manage Discovery Pathway demand through accessible tooling that enables transparent tracking for all team members.
. Work closely with Insights, Engagement, and Delivery colleagues to ensure tooling supports a single coherent DAIC picture.
