Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Hybrid – Downtown Chicago (Onsite 3 days/week)
Employment Type: W2 Contract Only
Pay Rate: $70/hour (W2 only)
Duration: 12 Months (Likely to Extend)
Work Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Introduction
TPG is hiring a skilled Data Engineer to support a high-impact IT modernization initiative for a major financial services institution. As the organization shifts to a fully cloud-native Microsoft environment, this role plays a crucial part in building out a robust data platform and analytics infrastructure to support advanced reporting, real-time data processing, and secure cloud applications. This is a long-term opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking virtual applications team helping drive one of the largest platform transformations in the industry.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or 10+ years of equivalent IT experience
Expertise in data architecture, pipelines, real-time data processing, streaming, networking, and security
Strong command of SQL and Python for large-scale data manipulation
Experience with Azure (Public Cloud) development and Snowflake
Proven ability to design and build scalable and resilient cloud-native applications
Familiarity with modern data integration approaches and cloud-based platforms
Excellent communication skills for working across technical and non-technical teams
Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile delivery methodologies
Experience using: Java, Docker, Spring, APIs (REST/SOAP), Maven, Git, Gradle
Understanding of the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC)

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

Financial services or asset servicing industry experience
Familiarity with modern data governance practices (data lifecycle, classification, ownership)
Ability to research, assess, and recommend emerging technologies based on strategic business needs

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Build and maintain cloud-native data pipelines and architectures that support real-time analytics
Design and deliver scalable, secure database and application solutions aligned with business strategy
Lead integration of internal and external data sources into a unified platform
Drive data migration projects and ensure quality and consistency of data
Establish best practices and standards for data management, ownership, and lifecycle
Partner with business stakeholders and analytics teams to align on deliverables and ensure project success
Contribute to Agile development cycles and actively participate in team planning and review sessions
Research emerging technologies to improve system performance, security, and user experience
